Molybdenum Rod Surface Condition
The surface of moly rod can be supplied in a black, chemical cleaned, ground or polished condition, depending on diameter and length parameters.
The black molybdenum bar has a layer of oxide on the surface after forging or swaging.
Chemical cleaning of molybdenum bar is to clean molybdenum bar with liquid acid or alkali to remove the oxide layer on the surface. After cleaning, the surface of the molybdenum bar is silver-gray, without metallic luster.
The ground molybdenum rod is machined by a centerless grinding machine to remove the black oxide layer. The polished or ground molybdenum rod presents silver metallic luster with a smooth surface and small diameter tolerance.
Molybdenum Rod Production Technology
As with our other molybdenum products, molybdenum bar also begins as metal molybdenum powder, is pressed into ingots, sintered, forged, swaged then machined to a custom size and surface.
